FinanCity was founded in late 1998 and the first version of our website went live during 1999.
In the lengthy discussions preceding the birth of FinanCity, we called the venture “Project Independence” because our key aim has always been to help more people achieve financial independence. This we hope to achieve through better awareness, not only of personal finance but of life planning so you can set and achieve goals.
In the current climate these may be limited to survival. Our aim, however, is to make it easy for you understand your personal finances not just here and now, but in the long-term — so you can make informed decisions that will support your life goals. Life, after all, will continue hopefully a long time after the current recession is over and old age and illness are still in the picture.
FinanCity has recently launched this website to focus on content. We hope to build up a rich library of self-help articles which will be freely available to all to maximise its impact. To help provide more detailed help in certain areas, and a different perspective, we will be publishing articles from our long time supporter and refreshingly different – and highly capable – Independent Financial Adviser, IFA Direct, founded by Alastair Lyon.
Here’s to Financial Independence!
